Hope (Amir Danesh-Yazdi)

Note from artist: Hope: The motivation for this work is to visualize the fact that even though the path to achieving your goals may be winding and fraught with setbacks, there is always light at the end of the tunnel; there is always reason to maintain optimism and hope. This work falls in the category of curve stitching, in which the illusion of curvature is brought out by simple straight lines. It was produced by a code I wrote in MATLAB.

Space Dust (Noah (Clip) Clippinger)
Spider (Amir Danes-Yazdi)

Note from artist: Spider: This work came about from my attempt to combine spirals, which are curves, and the art of curve stitching, in which the illusion of curvature is brought out by simple straight lines. In this work, each curve stitching segment is positioned along a particular type of spiral to create the effect seen, which looks much like a spider. It was produced by a code I wrote in MATLAB.

Note from artist: Phoenix Rising: The motivation for this work is to demonstrate my fascination with spirals, which are curves and the art of curve stitching, in which the illusion of curvature is brought out by simple straight lines. In this work, each curve stitching segment is positioned along a spiral to create the effect seen. It was produced by a code I wrote in MATLAB.

COVID-19 (Amir Danesh-Yazdi)

Note from artist: COVID-19: This work came about during a particularly frustrating time during the COVID-19 pandemic and the final figure is supposed to somewhat resemble the COVID-19 virus itself. This work falls in the category of curve stitching, in which the illusion of curvature is brought out by simple straight lines. It was produced by a code I wrote in MATLAB.
