Beyond the Hudson

Beyond the blue midnight New York river,

The Hudson separates my gaze to you.

I’m lost for a thousand miles, deterred.

September can’t come quick enough, come through.

Manhattan dangers lurk in the moonlight,

Will I see you in my sure arms again?

Beware of romance’s venomous bite,

Or will my love be gone at summer’s end?

I wait on the Staten lapis gold shores.

Come back, my love, I plead with all my soul,

That I won’t be met with a true horror,

And you won’t leave my broken heart a hole.

I’d sail with haste from gray shores of London,

Til then I’ll wait beyond the blue Hudson.
