that when I tell you

you’re healing my inner child

The smaller version of me

used to pray for a friend

who would wear pretty dresses

just to run through a field together.

She used to wonder if the concept

of best friends

was just a phrase that people say.

And she didn’t ever truly believe in it.

With every night full of laughter

And every moment of joy

the heartbreak of the past

gets a little easier to bear.

People have told me

that I say I love people

too casually

but it’s not casual to me.

It’s the deepest, most important

thing in the world.

And I might explode if I don’t say it

as often as I do.
