Salt and Sky

Take me beyond those silver shores,
shining beneath the sun
in a glimmer of salted winds.
Let us set sail upon the deep blue tide
and only stars to guide us.
There we shall stand upon the prow
and lay claim to the vast horizon
as if we ourselves could command
the very storms upon her shoulders.
Oh heart, my restless heart,
to glide upon the ocean spray
and hear the foaming song
of wild waves and boundless,
rolling in from far beyond;
Take me to that sanctuary,
of salt and drift and sky.
That all I ask is a fair tall ship
and the waxing of each tide.
